The Shirt Dress

I love incorporating masculine pieces into my outfits and making them look feminine. Today, I matched an over sized mens dress shirt with a pair of frilly socks and shiny loafers. It's the perfect Friday look, especially because on Fridays I roll out of bed at the last minute and have already mentally checked out from the previous week. On Fridays I just want to be comfortable, and as I stomped down the street in my loafers, away from my morning classes and back to my bed, I couldn't help but notice how many young women I passed wearing basketball shorts, messy buns, and yesterdays eye makeup smudged all over their faces. I realized that Friday is a CAN'T EVEN day. It is the one day a week that students are not ready to deal with. They are so ready for the weekend that they can't even deal with the Friday classes ahead of them. With this outfit, I am here to help with that Friday "cant even" slump. It is so easy to look adorable and be extremely tired at the same time. The shirt dress is the one piece every girl who can't deal with Friday should own. The shirt dress is every girls best friend. It is comfy, cute, and easy to put on at 8 A.M. and easy to get off for your nap at Noon. Ladies if you are going to listen to any of my fashion advice, listen to the shirt dress advice. I thank this piece every day for existing.

Witchy

American Horror Story Coven has been a huge style inspiration for me this year. The witch look is now my favorite look to rock. The all black ensembles, wide brimmed witchy hats, and the killer shoes had me drooling all season. This is definitely a look that is coming into style, so next time you go shopping don't forget to stock up on black dresses and some killer black heels. With this look, you'll be able to cast some spells without even lifting a finger....if you know what I mean.

Layering Up

Today was absolutely brutal in Austin. It was cold, windy, and rainy but I just had to make a trip out of my house for some sushi with my boyfriend. I will always risk getting pneumonia for raw fish. When it's this dreary outside, I like to layer up with some color. I matched my favorite cold weather items (black litas, black coat, black stockings) with some of my more colorful pieces hanging in my closet. A white leopard print dress, pink beanie, light denim button down, and bright jewelry mixed with my favorite black items made for a nice cozy outfit. Just because it's miserable outside doesn't mean you have to look miserable. There is no rule saying you can't wear bright colors on a dull day. Go into your closet and do a little experimenting with layering. Have some fun with the cold weather! Pretty soon it will be boiling hot and you will be crying because you miss your winter clothes. Shop this look below lovelies!

What's Under Your Pea Coat?

I will never understand why people complain about cold weather fashion. I hear at least six girls a day scream out in frustration, "It is so impossible to look cute when it's cold outside!" Now that is just not true. I'll let you in on a little secret of mine, I know the perfect way to look cute even when it's freezing outside. Do you want to know my secret? you really want to know? Ok, here it is.....BUY A PEA COAT! A pea coat, or any long coat for that matter, is a great winter staple for your wardrobe. It can help turn any of your clothes into cute winter weather clothes. I am wearing a very thin dress with tiny little straps underneath my pea coat and I am still warm. It's a miracle! Now that you have a new and positive outlook on your winter wardrobe, I ask you ladies, what are you wearing under your pea coat today?

Red Velvet

So I wanted to share my outfit from Thanksgiving. This red velvet playsuit from MinkPink is romantic and beautiful; it is one of the many things I am thankful for. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on everyone and everything in your life that makes you happy. It is a time to make you realize how blessed you really are. I am thankful for my boyfriend Grant for always making me feel beautiful and loved, I am thankful for my family for always supporting me and pushing me to pursue my dreams in fashion, and I am thankful for my babies Lucy and Bear (my cat and dog) for always being the best cuddle partners. I hope everyone gives thanks every day of the people in their lives, not just on Thanksgiving. Next up is Christmas, a time to show all of the people in your life how much you really love them. Happy holidays everybody!

Fall Overalls

These gold corduroy overalls are my favorite piece in my closet right now.  I can't get enough of them, I feel like I wear them at least once a week. I love these deep fall colors; all of the deep golds, reds, and burnt oranges make me oh so happy. These colors work well in a wardrobe because they go with so many other colors. I wear these overalls with a lot of different blouses and baggy sweaters, and it completely changes the outfit every time. Wearing these overalls with a white blouse is one of my favorites, but I also love wearing my boyfriends big baggy brown sweater under them and a red beanie on my head to pull the whole look together. I would try to incorporate these fall colors into your wardrobe, you can make so many different outfits with them. Happy fall! I hope everyone has a great Halloween tomorrow!

Don't forget to follow me!

Mickey Mouse and Leather Baseball Caps

It has been a lazy Sunday here in Austin, and I am not feeling like a beauty queen right now. So of course, I threw on my trusty leather cap and an oversized cropped sweatshirt  and took pictures hiding my face. I hate the days when I wake up and don't feel pretty. I know every girl has those days, and they absolutely SUCK! I'm thankful to have a boyfriend in my life that tells me I am beautiful everyday, even on the days where I feel the complete opposite. Every girl deserves to have two things in life: a trusty yet trendy baseball cap when they are feeling under the weather, and a person who makes them realize how beautiful they truly are. I hope all of you are feeling beautiful today.

Won't you take me to Funkytown?

Yes, I would take you to Funkytown, and this is the place I would take you to. It's called the "Cathedral of Junk" and if you are ever in Austin you have to check it out. Believe me, it's worth it. I love Austin for this very reason. There are so many weird hidden gems around this city and I am so glad I get to share some of these magical places with you guys. I bought this really funky dress from Pixie Market and it is the perfect Austin dress. Very unique, interesting, and a little odd, just like the city of Austin. I love clothing that stands out. Which brings me to my next point, I'm sick of seeing girls who are too scared to be themselves. They don't want to be different or get made fun of so they just go along with the crowd and wear and act like everyone else. It's time to break those chains ladies. All of those funky clothes you see when you go shopping that you secretly want but are too scared to buy, GO BUY THEM! Wear them and rock them. You will feel so happy once you finally let go of people's opinions and just be yourself. Embrace your true style. After all, life is just one big costume party.
