Blue Bonnet Season

It is officially blue bonnet season here in Texas, so here is a cliche blog post of me posing in them. I don't care how annoying people think blue bonnet pictures are, I looooovvveee them. Honestly, I just love everything about blue bonnet season. It isn't officially spring until the blue bonnets come out.

As I was organizing all of my blog posts for these upcoming two weeks I noticed a trend: white lace. I don't know why, but I've really been diggin white lace for spring and summer. Usually white lace is something I stay away from, I really don't know why I tend to stay away from it....maybe it's too bridal or maybe it's not edgy enough. Whatever the reason, it's very odd to have so many white lace pieces hanging in my closet, but I am so happy that I've spent the money on them. You'll see the many different ways I like to style white lace in blog posts later this week.

I styled this white lace bralette with layers of dainty gold jewelry and distressed boyfriend jeans. It's just my way of making lace look less girly.

Now here is a little tip for all the ladies out there who are as pale as I am: Don't be afraid of white clothing. Some people try to say that pale girls can't pull off the color white, but I'm here to tell you that is not true. Pale girls can actually pull off every color, especially white. I love the way pale colors, like white, make my skin look. They make your skin look soft and milky, and when you step out into the sun you'll glow. It's awesome. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't wear. You do you, girl.

P.S. Here is a close up of all the gold jewelry I was wearing with this outfit. You can shop this body chain from Vanessa Mooney here

A Weekend In West Texas

Is it possible to be in an environment that is relaxing and stressful all at the same time? This weekend me, my entire family, and my boyfriend traveled out West to Abilene, Texas to celebrate my soon to be niece. Anticipating the arrival of a baby is always stressful, but their is always a sense of tranquility that washes over me anytime I travel away from home. Whether it be to London or to Abilene, traveling makes me feel at peace. At my sister-in-laws baby shower I didn't feel like I belonged. I was surrounded by Lily Pulitzer clad sorority girls, and frankly I just didn't fit in. But I fit in perfectly to the house we rented. A southern themed house with white wood floors, vases filled with cotten, and chic cow skinned rugs. Every wall of the house was covered in old documents or old book covers. I mean, when was the last time you saw a house that had old book covers as its wall paper?! How freaking cool! I am by no means a "cowgirl", and I would never say that I have southern taste, even though I have spent my entire life in the South. I fell head over heels for this southern styled home. Every aspect of this house was unique. Everything stood out, kind of like me, a fashion obsessed woman living in a state that doesn't care about fashion at all. I was so sad to have to leave this beautiful house behind, and I really did try to capture its beauty, but unfortunately no picture would ever do this house justice.

Layering Up

Today was absolutely brutal in Austin. It was cold, windy, and rainy but I just had to make a trip out of my house for some sushi with my boyfriend. I will always risk getting pneumonia for raw fish. When it's this dreary outside, I like to layer up with some color. I matched my favorite cold weather items (black litas, black coat, black stockings) with some of my more colorful pieces hanging in my closet. A white leopard print dress, pink beanie, light denim button down, and bright jewelry mixed with my favorite black items made for a nice cozy outfit. Just because it's miserable outside doesn't mean you have to look miserable. There is no rule saying you can't wear bright colors on a dull day. Go into your closet and do a little experimenting with layering. Have some fun with the cold weather! Pretty soon it will be boiling hot and you will be crying because you miss your winter clothes. Shop this look below lovelies!

Pretty In Pink

This post was so much fun to shoot because all I did was twirl and dance around in front of the camera (as you can tell from the pictures). I found this beautiful green, wooded area on my boyfriends ranch and it was magical, my boyfriend told me it was his favorite spot growing up and I could see why. It looked like a magical forest and it made me feel very whimsical. So, I twirled. These black sandals from Dolce Vita's new spring collection are my everything right now. If you are looking for the perfect black sandals, let me tell you, these are it. They are beautiful and comfortable and they will be my go to shoes for the spring. Shop these beauts below!

We Could Step Into The Sun

Today was a great day to be living in Texas, It was 75 degrees and sunny all day. Hot and sunny in January...can you believe it?! A lot of people don't give this state enough credit. Don't get me wrong, when I graduate from university I am getting the hell out of here, but there really is so much beauty in this state. Days like today make me thankful and happy. Of course on my happy days I want to wear fun and happy clothes. These pants from Novella Royale are a dream come true. They are fun, flattering, and they make old people who grew up in the 70's feel nostalgic and happy. I always have older people stop me on the street and ask, "Where did you get those?! I had those same pants when I was in college!" I am absolutely in love with them, they bring out the whimsical 70's flower child in me. Groovy, right?

Austin City Limits Music Festival

This past weekend was Austin City Limits Music Festival. In case you have never heard of it, ACL is a three day long festival held in Austin, Texas every year at the beginning of fall. People get to dress up in their flower crowns and high wasted shorts and frolic around Zilker Park enjoying the live music, food, and local art vendors. I have been going every year since I was fourteen, and let me tell you, IT IS A GREAT TIME. There is nothing I love more than dancing around in a field while Vampire Weekend performs right in front of me. This year I had the privilege of seeing Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, Passion Pit, Wild Cub, Wilco, Lionel Richie and many many more. Every show is just one big dance party, and every face you see has a smile plastered on it. It is a weekend where you can forget all your worries and dance yourself clean. I can not wait for next year, but in the meantime I wanted to share with you a couple of my festival outfits. I hope you enjoy, and I hope all of you can make it to this beautiful event at least once in your life. Don't forget to subscribe to my blog and follow me on bloglovin!
