I'm Back!

Did you miss me? It has been exactly a year since my last blog post! I can't even believe it has been that long. Jeez, the real world really sucks it out of you. Just to get you up to date with where I am at in my life: I am no longer skipping class, straightening my hair,  or living in a broken down two bedroom house on 34th Street. I now have an amazing job, don't give a shit about my hair, and live in a broken down apartment three streets down. I have grown up so much. Why must the world change so drastically?

In all seriousness, I decided that I need to get back into blogging. I love blogging, and I am sick of posting mirror selfies at work for a bunch of people on Instagram who really don't care about what my work bathroom looks like. I have been so focused on work this past year and I figured that it was time to finally do something for myself again.

I hope you are ready for blog posts that contain too many curse words and too many low cut tops, because they are about to come at you in full force. I have cultivated quite a wardrobe this past year and I can't wait to share it with you.

Suede Shorts? Why Not.

I am going to be completely honest with you, I HATE shorts. I hate them with a passion. I can never find a pair that fits right, mainly in length. All of the shorts I buy are either too short, therefore are always making me stop to pull them further down, or are too long. I can't even tell you how long I have been searching for the perfect pair of jean shorts. It's been years, and I'm still looking! I still haven't found a good pair of jean shorts! UGH!! To say that I'm frustrated would be an understatement.

Since I am not one to give up when it comes to fashion, I keep trying to find a good pair. I decided to take a chance on these suede shorts. In all honesty, these are not my favorite pair. They don't show off my shape, and of course, they just don't fit right. In their defense though, they are super comfortable. I can walk around in them without having them ride up and they are so soft. These will not be shorts that I wear out on the town, but they will be a nice pair of shorts to wear with a crop top when I want to lounge around the house or make a quick trip to the grocery store. On the up side, this amazing The Lair belt, fisherman hat, and an oversized button down from my boyfriends closet have really helped jazz these shorts up.

So the search for the perfect pair of shorts continues...

Blue Bonnet Season

It is officially blue bonnet season here in Texas, so here is a cliche blog post of me posing in them. I don't care how annoying people think blue bonnet pictures are, I looooovvveee them. Honestly, I just love everything about blue bonnet season. It isn't officially spring until the blue bonnets come out.

As I was organizing all of my blog posts for these upcoming two weeks I noticed a trend: white lace. I don't know why, but I've really been diggin white lace for spring and summer. Usually white lace is something I stay away from, I really don't know why I tend to stay away from it....maybe it's too bridal or maybe it's not edgy enough. Whatever the reason, it's very odd to have so many white lace pieces hanging in my closet, but I am so happy that I've spent the money on them. You'll see the many different ways I like to style white lace in blog posts later this week.

I styled this white lace bralette with layers of dainty gold jewelry and distressed boyfriend jeans. It's just my way of making lace look less girly.

Now here is a little tip for all the ladies out there who are as pale as I am: Don't be afraid of white clothing. Some people try to say that pale girls can't pull off the color white, but I'm here to tell you that is not true. Pale girls can actually pull off every color, especially white. I love the way pale colors, like white, make my skin look. They make your skin look soft and milky, and when you step out into the sun you'll glow. It's awesome. Don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't wear. You do you, girl.

P.S. Here is a close up of all the gold jewelry I was wearing with this outfit. You can shop this body chain from Vanessa Mooney here

My Go-To Outfit

Let's face it, there isn't a single girl on the face of this earth who wakes up every day wanting to get dressed up. If you say that you do love it, you're lying. I wanted to do a blog post on my "everyday outfit" because the truth is, I don't wake up every day wanting to wear frilly skirts and heels. My everyday outfit is very baggy, consisting of boyfriend jeans, my favorite low neck shirt, a cute bralette, and booties. This is what I feel comfortable in, this is what I love. I wear this outfit more than I wear any other outfit. You will see me out of the house getting coffee, taking my dog to the dog park, or rifling through records at the local vintage record store in this outfit probably three times a week, just in a different variation. I have this same shirt in black and about a million different adorable bralettes which help me mix up this go-to outfit a little bit. Everyone has a go-to outfit, whether you realize it or not. It may be a flowy baby doll dress, and it may be a pair of Nike shorts and an oversized t-shirt, but when it comes down to it, every single girl in the world has their own go-to outfit. This is mine, and I love it.

Shades of Fall

When I think of fall fashion a lot comes to mind: corduroy, plaid, beanies, dark lipsticks, and comfortable overalls just to name a few. These overalls are the perfect fall wardrobe staple. They are warm in color and texture, I could live in these overalls, and when it gets cold outside I do just that. Fall is such a busy time of year.  I have so much on my plate right now, I am taking 18 hours of classes, working a part time job, applying for full time jobs since I am graduating in December, and trying to keep a full social calender. It's easy to get overwhelmed and lost in all of the work you have going on, but it is important to slow down and enjoy the season, and it's even more important to enjoy the seasonal clothing! Right when I finish writing this post I am going to celebrate the fall season with some champagne. Its Friday, so you should do the same! Cheers, babies!

Red Velvet Autumn Dreams

It is officially Autumn, which means the leaves on the trees will start turning vibrant reds, golds, and oranges, the air will start feeling crisp, and the of smell apple cider and burning wood will surround you. To anyone who actually gets to experience this, I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU. See, here in good 'ole Texas we don't have seasons. We have two types of weather: scorching, hotter than the freakin sun, heat and oh my god it is uncomfortably cold outside. Seasons don't exist here. I have this theory though, maybe if I slowly start to dress like it's chilly outside, it will become chilly outside. I already know the outcome of this experiment....I am going to die of heat stroke. But hey, at least I'll look good doing it. I will not let this heat bring me down! Fall is my favorite time of year, this state can not take that away from me! I pulled out my favorite pair of red velvet overalls from the depths of my cold weather closet and paired it with a bralette from For Love and Lemons. I love the deep burgundy color of these overalls, they are the perfect fall piece. Yes, the velvet was cozy in this hot weather, but the bralette balanced it out. Oh, and I can't forget to talk about the best part of the outfit....THESE BOOTS. Ugh I am so in love with them, I can't wear them enough. If you haven't checked out Senso, get your butt over to their website right this minute! You will fall (haha like fall the season, get it?)  in love. I hope everyone is transitioning into fall a lot easier than I am. Happy Autumn, lovelies!

P.S. I know what you are thinking, how does she know anything about the fall season if she lives in a season-less state? Well, I actually grew up in Virginia. I truly believe that Virginia is the greatest and most beautiful state in this country. It actually has all four seasons! I miss it there.

The Importance of a Stand Out Piece

Every once in a while, I love to splurge on one really funky item. It doesn't have to be a practical purchase, it is usually something fun that really grabs peoples attention when I wear it. This harness is the newest member of my crazy splurge collection. I am so in love with this piece. The leather is soft and distressed, and even though it might look heavy, it really isn't. It adds a cool edge to any outfit, and I get a lot of compliments on it. When I wear it I get a lot of comments along the lines of, "I wish I was brave enough to wear that." So, why aren't you brave enough to wear it? Style is about being yourself and not caring what other people think. I don't see the point of stifling your own creativity just to fit in and become another nameless face in the crowd. Spurge on crazy pieces that you have no idea how to style and actually wear them! Standing out is fun.

A Weekend In West Texas

Is it possible to be in an environment that is relaxing and stressful all at the same time? This weekend me, my entire family, and my boyfriend traveled out West to Abilene, Texas to celebrate my soon to be niece. Anticipating the arrival of a baby is always stressful, but their is always a sense of tranquility that washes over me anytime I travel away from home. Whether it be to London or to Abilene, traveling makes me feel at peace. At my sister-in-laws baby shower I didn't feel like I belonged. I was surrounded by Lily Pulitzer clad sorority girls, and frankly I just didn't fit in. But I fit in perfectly to the house we rented. A southern themed house with white wood floors, vases filled with cotten, and chic cow skinned rugs. Every wall of the house was covered in old documents or old book covers. I mean, when was the last time you saw a house that had old book covers as its wall paper?! How freaking cool! I am by no means a "cowgirl", and I would never say that I have southern taste, even though I have spent my entire life in the South. I fell head over heels for this southern styled home. Every aspect of this house was unique. Everything stood out, kind of like me, a fashion obsessed woman living in a state that doesn't care about fashion at all. I was so sad to have to leave this beautiful house behind, and I really did try to capture its beauty, but unfortunately no picture would ever do this house justice.
