Overalls, Overalls, Overalls

There is nothing better than a good pair of overalls. I have been saying this since the day I woke up and realized Abercrombie and Limited Too weren't the only stores that existed...so, like, 15 years now?

In fact, on my first day of 5th grade I wore a pair of pink overalls that had a HUGE rip in the back. Even with all of the safety pins my teacher used to close up the tear, and the purple granny panties that showed through, I still killed it that day. Overalls always work.

I can say with confidence that I have officially mastered the overall. Don't get me wrong, it can be hard to find a pair of flattering overalls. Once you do though, they become a very important staple in your wardrobe.

The two stores I would highly recommend for overalls are Free People and Second Skin Overalls. Their styles are flattering and versatile. Once you buy a pair, you will have trouble going a week without wearing them. Shop my look below!

I'm Back!

Did you miss me? It has been exactly a year since my last blog post! I can't even believe it has been that long. Jeez, the real world really sucks it out of you. Just to get you up to date with where I am at in my life: I am no longer skipping class, straightening my hair,  or living in a broken down two bedroom house on 34th Street. I now have an amazing job, don't give a shit about my hair, and live in a broken down apartment three streets down. I have grown up so much. Why must the world change so drastically?

In all seriousness, I decided that I need to get back into blogging. I love blogging, and I am sick of posting mirror selfies at work for a bunch of people on Instagram who really don't care about what my work bathroom looks like. I have been so focused on work this past year and I figured that it was time to finally do something for myself again.

I hope you are ready for blog posts that contain too many curse words and too many low cut tops, because they are about to come at you in full force. I have cultivated quite a wardrobe this past year and I can't wait to share it with you.

Suede Shorts? Why Not.

I am going to be completely honest with you, I HATE shorts. I hate them with a passion. I can never find a pair that fits right, mainly in length. All of the shorts I buy are either too short, therefore are always making me stop to pull them further down, or are too long. I can't even tell you how long I have been searching for the perfect pair of jean shorts. It's been years, and I'm still looking! I still haven't found a good pair of jean shorts! UGH!! To say that I'm frustrated would be an understatement.

Since I am not one to give up when it comes to fashion, I keep trying to find a good pair. I decided to take a chance on these suede shorts. In all honesty, these are not my favorite pair. They don't show off my shape, and of course, they just don't fit right. In their defense though, they are super comfortable. I can walk around in them without having them ride up and they are so soft. These will not be shorts that I wear out on the town, but they will be a nice pair of shorts to wear with a crop top when I want to lounge around the house or make a quick trip to the grocery store. On the up side, this amazing The Lair belt, fisherman hat, and an oversized button down from my boyfriends closet have really helped jazz these shorts up.

So the search for the perfect pair of shorts continues...

Slip Dressin'

Summer flew by this year. It lasted for two seconds, and while I am glad for cooler temperatures and a whole new stock of beanies, I am not quite ready to pack away some of my summer pieces. I don't care about the crop tops and short shorts that are always riding up into a wedgy. It is the dresses that I am going to miss. All of my bright For Love and Lemon numbers and my nude slip dresses.

It isn't necessary to shove your slip dresses to the back of your closet just yet. With a pair of booties and a sweater or t shirt layered underneath, you're slip dress has turned into the perfect fall transitioning piece. Don't give up on your summer wardrobe just yet!

Prada Marfa

Surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me.
*Madison Montgomery voice*

I'M BACKKKK! I guess I should explain my absence. A few months ago on a hiking trip to Colorado my laptop smashed into a million pieces and I am just now replacing it. I can't even describe to you the struggle of going two months without a laptop. No online shopping, no blogging, NO NETFLIX. It was tragic. A dark time in my life that I am trying to forget.

In all seriousness, I am so happy to be back and I promise that there will be no more long gaps of silence from me. All of you are rolling your eyes and already annoyed with me filling up your emails with new blog posts, I just know it.

There will be a lot of changes on my blog, because guess what, my life has changed a lot in two months. I plan on adding a social commentary section on my blog where I write personal essays talking about a wide range of issues. I have a lot on my mind lately, a lot of feelings bottled up.

Anyways, I just got back from a fantastic anniversary vacation in Marfa with my fantastic boyfriend. A few of my new posts might look familiar, because we went back to the same resort we stayed at last year. We couldn't stay away. Honestly, how could you when a place is so magical?

This vacation in particular had an extra dose of magic in the form of a wailing, sassy, one pound kitten. We found her on the side of the road scared, alone, and starving. We brought her home with us, her name is Marfa. She loves it here in her new Austin home.

Of course, I had to take a trip to my favorite art instillation, Prada Marfa. I decided to wear my best western hippie look. A black fringe skirt, a western style statement belt, and a big boater hat. You can never go wrong with fringe and you can never go wrong with black. The statement belt is my new statement necklace. A belt can bring an entire outfit together and it can make an outfit look more flattering. I think it is extremely important to splurge on one really great belt that you can wear with everything in your closet.

This belt I'm wearing is expensive. It cost me almost $200, but before you write me off as crazy, you should know that I wear this belt at least 3 times a week. Before I decided to spend the money on it, I went into my closet and put together 5 different outfits and imagined what they would look like wiht the belt. I realized that every piece of clothing in my closet could be worn with that one belt, and that is when I knew I had to buy it. I might have spent a pretty penny on this piece, but I am getting a lot of wear out of it. Quality is so important. You are spending money on something that is going to last you your entire life, which makes it worth it.

I'll talk to you tomorrow, babes! I've got a great vintage post in the works for you tomorrow.

Take Me To Woodstock

OK, where have I been for the past month?!?!?! I've been being an adult with stupid adult responsibilities. I'm in bed by 10 pm, leaving the house at 7 am, and crying over my terrible tasting salad in between. Being an adult is the worst, but you don't even realize it's the worst until summer rolls around and your younger boyfriend, who's still in college, is partying it up with no cares in the world. Why can't I join in on that fun?! Why do I have to go to work tomorrow?!

I'm not going to lie, it's difficult at times. When I am dragging my ass through the door at 6 pm after working for 9 hours, I don't have the energy to take blog pictures. I promise though, I am trying to get in the groove of things (without coffee I might add) so I will be able to have enough energy to get glammed up for my blog everyday. While I have been on a blog hiatus, I have collected a lot of new and amazing pieces that I am so excited for you all to see. I know you will go crazy for some of it so start saving your money now, ladies.

I decided to channel total Woodstock vibes with this velvet patchwork mini and lace up black bodysuit.  Nothing screams Woodstock like a patchwork mini skirt. Shop my look below, babes.
